
Valued at a market cap of $17.5 billion, News Corporation (NWS) is a diversified media and information services company. Headquartered in New York, the company operates through six segments: Digital Real Estate Services; Subscription Video Services; Dow Jones; Book Publishing; News Media; and Other.
Companies valued at $10 billion or more are generally labeled as “large-cap” stocks, and News Corporation fits this criterion perfectly. The company creates and distributes authoritative and engaging content, and other products and services for consumers and businesses worldwide. It also owns and operates Monday to Friday, Saturday and Sunday, weekly and bi-weekly newspapers along with digital mastheads and other websites.
The mass media and publishing company dipped 12.7% from its 52-week high of $35.25. Shares of NWS have dropped nearly 1.1% over the past three months, outpacing the Fidelity MSCI Communication Services Index ETF’s (FCOM) 3.2% drop.

On a YTD basis, NWS has climbed 1.1%, slightly performing better than FCOM’s marginal decline. Yet, over the past 52 weeks, News Corporation has surged 14.4%, lagging behind the FCOM has advanced 18%.
Since last year, the stock has been trading above its 200-day moving average.

Shares of NWS fell marginally on the following day after its Q2 2025 results on Feb. 5. Although the company reported $2.2 billion in revenues, its adjusted EPS of $0.33 lagged the consensus estimate of $0.34, leading to a pullback in its stock. However, News Corporation’s Digital Real Estate Services segment improved 13% year-over-year to $473 million in Q2. The adjusted EBITDA came in at $478 million, up 20% year-over-year.
In contrast, rival Cinemark Holdings, Inc. (CNK) has outpaced NWS over the past 52 weeks, gaining 48.2%. But, CNK shares slumped 15.9% on a YTD basis, underperforming NWS.
In spite of News Corporation’s underperformance over the past year, analysts are bullish about its prospects. NWS has a consensus rating of “Strong Buy” from the three analysts covering the stock and, as of writing, is trading below the mean price target of $38.67.
