The Green Bay Packers have two more practices open to the public during training camp in 2023: The first on Tuesday at noon, and the final practice coming on Wednesday at noon (unless adjusted due to heat). From there, Matt LaFleur’s team will host the Seattle Seahawks in the preseason finale on Saturday and then begin prep for the regular season.
Stick with Packers Wire for all the news and highlights from Tuesday’s practice:

Love to Toure
Jordan Love with great ball to Samori Toure down middle. With safety over top, Love threw behind Toure so as to not get his receiver’s head knocked off. Toure made sliding catch coming back to the ball for 24 yards.
Talk about WRs earning the QB’s trust. That’s the inverse.

Win for the offense
No 1 Offense wins the situational play when Watson catches a 20 yard TD off a post
— Wes Hodkiewicz 🌎 (@WesHod) August 22, 2023
One win for the offense. Sounds like Keisean Nixon fell down in coverage, freeing up Watson for the score.
Love to Reed
Jordan Love drops a dime deep to rookie Jayden Reed on a fade ball down the right seam. Reed got behind Keisean Nixon, and Love dropped it over his receiver’s shoulder for a 78-yard touchdown. Can’t place it any better than that.

Is this connection heating up? Love hit Reed for a 19-yard touchdown on Saturday night against the Patriots. Another big play on Tuesday.
Carlson struggling in the wind
Anders Carlson 2/6 on kicks today into a gnarly left-to-right wind. Made PAT, missed 45 wide left, made 47, then missed 51 wide right, 52 wide right and 53 wide left.
— Matt Schneidman (@mattschneidman) August 22, 2023
Rough start for rookie kicker Anders Carlson, who is kicking in a tricky wind. He made all three of his kicks against the Patriots on Saturday night. Up and down the rookie rollercoaster goes.
Gary officially returns

— Green Bay Packers (@packers) August 22, 2023
As Matt LaFleur said, Rashan Gary went through one-on-one drills and was on the field for 11-on-11 reps. Big step for the star edge rusher. He has almost three weeks to get his body ready for the Bears.
Jones returns
T Caleb Jones is back from his ankle injury for #Packers pic.twitter.com/7TCe7NzLPp
— Mike Spofford (@mikespofford) August 22, 2023
Tons of good news on the injury front for the Packers. Jones is back after missing time with an ankle injury. He’s still a legitimate candidate for the 53-man roster as a backup offensive tackle.
In other injury news, David Bakhtiari isn’t practicing and Jake Hanson, who injured his shin against the Patriots, remains out.
Gaines returns
#Packers S Innis Gaines returned from quad injury.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) August 22, 2023
More good news on the injury front. Innis Gaines, who is listed as the backup slot corner, is back from a quad injury. He’ll have a chance to make the 53-man roster over the final week of camp.
Ballentine returns
#Packers CB Corey Ballantine has returned to practice from his stinger.
— Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) August 22, 2023
Good news for Ballentine, who has been out since suffering an injury in the preseason opener. He’s competing for a roster spot at cornerback and could stick on the 53-man roster as a core special teamer.
Other LaFleur tidbits
— Tarvarius Moore’s knee injury is considered a “day to day” type of issue.
— The Packers will adjust Wednesday’s practice time due to expected heat index. An earlier start is expected. Original starting time was planned for noon.
— LaFleur said it’s a big week because of all the roster battles still on-going.
No update on Stokes
Matt LaFleur was unable to provide an update on Eric Stokes, who still isn’t ready to come of the PUP list. He’s been out since November of last year with knee and foot injuries. It’s certainly possible Stokes will begin the season on the PUP list and miss at least the first four games.
Gary to return to team
Per Matt LaFleur, Rashan Gary is ready to start participating during 11-on-11 team periods at Monday’s practice. This is a big step in his recovery and suggests he’ll be ready to play come the season opener at Chicago on Sept. 10.
