Newquay's Beresford Hotel on the market for more than £3m as hospitality group sells off 18 properties

Newquay's Beresford Hotel has been put on the market, as a national hospitality group sells off 18 properties.

The sea view hotel, which offers 106 en suite bedrooms, restaurant, bar and ballroom has gone up for sale with an asking price of £3,850,000. The property which was built in the 1900's and was formed from the merger of two adjoining hotels has recently been used to house about 200 asylum seekers.

The residents were at the hotel from November 2022 to April 2023, before the Home Office relocated them to alternative accommodation in the South East of England, before the start of the tourism season.

Christie & Co is handling the sale of Coast and Country Club's 18 hotels. The real estate agency said that the Beresford Hotel's business is available free and clear of current management and branding and would be "well suited for continued use to capitalise on booming tourist trade in this region".

However, it also said that the property would lend itself well to alternative use, subject to planning consent.

Valley of Rocks Hotel in Lynton, Esplanade Hotel in Paignton and Dilkhusa Grand Hotel in Ilfracombe, are also part of the group's portfolio that have been put up for sale. In addition, the group is selling the Torbay Hotel in Torquay for more than £6m.

The hotel includes 111 en suite bedrooms, restaurant, bar, ball and café plus staff accommodation. The property, in a prime marina location, dates from the Victoria period.

It is constructed of solid brick with rendered and painted elevations and includes some neo-Georgian detail to the entrance porch and windows. The hotel has a lift and is arranged over basement, ground, and four upper floors.

The hotel is trading and benefits from both private leisure and group coach bookings, and is on the market for £6,250,000.
