Newport Marathon: Road closures, times and everything else you need to know

Details of this weekend's ABP Newport Wales Marathon and 10K have been announced. The event will take place on Sunday, April 16 and comes after the cancellation of last year's race in 2022. The event was postponed until this spring due to "operational risks", the organisers told WalesOnline last year.

There will be a number of road closures in place in Newport on the day, beginning from early morning and in some cases lasting until later on Sunday. There will also be changes to public transport and some disruption around the city centre.

Here is everything you need to know about this year's ABP Newport Wales Marathon and 10K. To get the latest Newport stories straight to your inbox, subscribe to our newsletter here.

Travel Information

Train:

Car:

If travelling by car, ensure to plan your route with the road closures in mind. To avoid congestion and to find a suitable parking space, leave extra time when arriving into Newport.

Bus:

Coach and bus services coming into the city will be affected by road closures due to the event. Attendees and racers are asked to check with their bus service to ensure they are still running and take into account that you may be dropped off further away from the event.

Event Park & Ride service:

An official Event Park & Ride service will be available from ICC Wales at the Coldra, Catsash Road, Newport, NP18 1HQ offering easy access from the M4. The service costs £8 per vehicle and includes a return bus transfer to/from the ICC Wales to the city centre, which is a less than five minutes' walk from the race start.
