Newcastle will hope to have Anthony Gordon available for this afternoon’s trip to Premier League champions Manchester City.
Gordon scored as Newcastle beat Arsenal 2-0 to progress into the Carabao Cup final earlier this month, though subsequently missed the 3-2 win over Birmingham in the FA Cup fourth round with a thigh injury.
Eddie Howe has confirmed Gordon should be fit for Newcastle’s trip to City, having responded well to treatment of late.
"Anthony should be fine; he has trained this week,” confirmed the Magpies boss on Friday.
“It was a thigh problem, but he has responded well to treatment over the weekend. “
Sven Botman will miss the game due to a knee problem, although the issue is not thought to be serious.
Dan Burn could also feature despite coming off against Birmingham with a thigh injury.
Jamaal Lascelles is a long-term injury absentee, while Harvey Barnes and Joelinton remain some weeks away from a return.
Newcastle predicted XI: Dubravka; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Tonali, Guimaraes, Willock; Murphy, Isak, Gordon
Injured: Barnes, Joelinton, Botman, Lascelles
