Newcastle 'wish list' claim made as speculation swirls around Allan Saint-Maximin's future

Kevin Campbell says 'it wouldn't be a mistake' if Newcastle 'got rid' of Allan Saint-Maximin this summer. The Magpies winger has been linked with a £50million move away from St. James' Park this week, with Aston Villa among those interested in the 25-year-old.

Saint-Maximin has come under fire on social media for his performances in a black and white shirt of late, but there can be no denying he's shown flashes of real quality since arriving at Newcastle. The Frenchman has struggled with consistency since arriving at St. James' Park and injury problems have played a large part of that.

There can be no denying the Magpies are currently a better team with Saint-Maximin in it, but pressure is beginning to mount on the winger. If the Magpies are able cash in on the former Nice wide man, they may well do that in order to reinvest into the squad.

Campbell believes the Magpies will have a 'wish list as long as their arm' and will have a different agenda. “I don’t think it would be a mistake if they got rid of him,” he told Football Insider. “Newcastle are going to have a wish list as long as your arm.

"They are going to have big names that they want to bring in. They are on a different agenda. We know what a brilliant player Saint-Maximin is and he has been a match-winner for them but he has also struggled with injuries.

“Eddie Howe has had him for a season and maybe he has decided that he wants somebody who is more to his liking. Who knows what is going on in the background. If they are looking to sell him then Eddie Howe will be looking at other wingers who suits his style better.”
