And finally, Jacob Steinberg’s report from the London Stadium.

And Louise Taylor was at St James’ Park

Andy Hunter was at Turf Moor:

Ed Aarons was in Bournemouth to see Kluivert Jnr shine.

Eddie Howe, speaking to TNT about that Everton penalty: “It was players grappling each other. It was one of those that could have gone either way. Bar that penalty we go on to win that game. It would have been a tight win but a deserved one.”

Some reaction, Justin Kluivert speaking to Sky Sports after his winning goal for Bournemouth against Crystal Palace: “We have a lot of games left. The conditions were quite tough but credit to the team. I am very pleased. I am so happy at Bournemouth. The future is bright for Bournemouth but we can grow a lot more. I am sure that will happen.”

The reports are rolling in, first Pete Lansley at the City Ground.

Full-time: Bournemouth 1-0 Crystal Palace

Bournemouth follow up their weekend win with another and have surpassed last season’s points total. Palace haven’t won in ten on the road and face Manchester City on Saturday. Then Liverpool to follow. Might they they be getting worried? The inability of others will probably save them. Oliver Glasner’s team are showing signs but need to start winning.

Full-time: Burnley 1-1 Wolves

A result that does little for either team, least of all Burnley. They scored a fine goal and then sloppily conceded an equaliser. OK, they are no longer losing but that’s not nearly enough. Wolves meanwhile looked understandably tired.

William Preston gets in touch: “I’ve taken the liberty of a cursory glance at Everton ‘s remaining fixtures, and reckon there’s sufficient six pointers there for any Philadelphian Toffees to breathe easy.

“True, it’s a been rough pumpkin patch for the team at the moment, but i’m sure they’ve got enough in them to get rouse a proper stomp on and have some final game of the season thrilling heroics to stay up. As they somehow normally do.”

Burnley 1-1 Wolves

Four more minutes are added on, though it doesn’t appear either team has much of an appetite to chase a winner and risk losing.

Bournemouth 1-0 Crystal Palace

Adam Smith leaves the field and off comes Dominic Solanke, for Unal, with five minutes added on after the 90.

Bournemouth 1-0 Crystal Palace

Palace want a penalty as Schlupp is baulked in the box, but the replays suggest his boot smashed into the boot of Adam Smith, who took a hell of a whack. No penalty, announces VAR/

Burnley 1-1 Wolves

Can Burnley snatch something here? Mario Lemina almost pinched it, the ball crossed in and he heads it off the post. Another player to hit the woodwork.

Full-time: Newcastle 1-1 Everton

Everton’s winless run continues but they will feel a point was won, though Newcastle will feel they were gifted that by VAR and Paul Dummett’s reckless tangle with Ashley Young.

Full-time: Nottingham Forest 3-1 Fulham

The sound is of relief in the West Bridgford night air as Forest celebrate a vital win. The four points they lost have been won in two matches, the first half showing with Morgan Gibbs-White outstanding was what won it. Fulham threw everything at it but couldn’t get back into it.

Goal! Bournemouth 1-0 Crystal Palace (Kluivert, 79)

The home team take the lead, the Dutchman getting it, with a very sharp finish, laid up by the excellent Semenyo.

Updated

Forest 3-1 Fulham

Just the five minutes added on at a breathless City Ground, where it’s been relentless and Origi, in being sent through, really ought to win it for Forest but smashes it wide. What a miss, he perhaps had too much time. And then, at the other end, Traore smashes the post as Fulham go again.

Newcastle 1-1 Everton

Nine (NINE) minutes of time added on at St James’ Park.

Forest 3-1 Fulham

The madness at the City Ground continues, with Fulham pushing on and on, with Forest defending for their dear lives.

Newcastle 1-1 Everton

Who can find a winner now? Both teams went to the well at the weekend. Newcastle should have been out of sight. Calvert-Lewin’s goal was his first since October.

Updated

Goal! Newcastle 1-1 Everton (Calvert-Lewin, 88 pen)

Martin Dubravka tries to put off a striker who has gone so long without a goal. Dubravka gets a hand to it, but he can’t keep it out. Everton fans go mad!

Updated

VAR review for Everton penalty - penalty given!

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

To nobody’s surprise, Dan Burn looks far more comfortable at centre-half than left-back but then there’s a clash between Paul Dummett and Ashley Young. There’s a VAR call for ref Tony Harrington to be called over. Dummett fell to the floor and took Young with him.

Updated

Bournemouth 0-0 Crystal Palace

In the battle of pressing exponents, Glasner versus Iraola, there’s been a cancelling out. Think of it as an intermediate level Guardiola v Arteta. Styles make fights, and all that.

Justin Kavanagh gets in touch: “Around this time of year, I always try to make extra time for listening to my Everton-afflicted pal here in Philadelphia. Others should too… let’s remember that these people probably didn’t choose to be Evertonians; research shows that it’s largely an inherited dis… disposition.”

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Lewis Hall again looks in poor nick, and he departs this time to be replaced by Paul Dummet, making only his second appearance since 2022. Welcome back, Paul.

Forest 3-1 Fulham

Gio Reyna is immiment, having looked decent for Forest at the weekend, and he will replaces Gibbs-White, who looks tired. Still, those are huge shoes to fill and Gibbs-White leaves to huge applause.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Ashley Young forces a save from Dubravka as Everton put pressure on, and at the other end Bruno Guimaraes shoots and Pickford saves. It’s all happening, and Newcastle force a corner that Everton hack behind. They clear this time.

Forest 3-1 Fulham

Another hitting of the bar, with Kenny Tete ratting it and his colleagues unable to knock it in.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Elliot Anderson, the youngster, goes off, and Joe Willock comes on as Newcastle seek that second goal.

Forest 3-1 Fulham

Now Neco Williams hits the woodwork/metal post, with a deflected shot. Hudson-Odoi is down injured and will be replaced by Divock Origi, the scorer. Origi is a better defensive forward.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Chances at both ends, with Garner hitting the post and then Newcastle attack in waves, with goalmouth scramble following an Isak effort.

Updated

Forest 3-1 Fulham

The insanity continues at the City Ground, with Fulham very much improved but opening up all sorts of space at the opposite end. Hell of a game.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Sean Dyche has seen enough with three changes, Onana, Doucoure and Beto off. Garner, Gomes and Calvert-Lewin on.

Dan Burn has a goal ruled offside for Newcastle, still 1-0

Isak the supplier, as he slots the ball across and Dan Burn, under such criticism this season, who slots in. That was too easy. Was he offside, Isak? There’s a delay, a long delay. The lines were out.

Updated

Forest 1-3 Fulham

There’s a chase from end to end after Hudson-Odoi goes down in the Fulham box and the visitors go all the way down the other end before Forest hurriedly clear their lines. And now Forest want a penalty as Robinson comes across Neco Williams. Ref Michael Oliver waves that away. and VAR does too.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

It happened a while ago now but James Tarkowksi’s gone closest to scoring – though for Newcastle with a deflection.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 3-1 Fulham (Tosin, 50)

The big defender nods in, with Gibbs-White the unlikely and unsuitable marker as he nods in. A rousing comeback? Stranger things have happened.

Updated

There’s been another goal at the London Stadium.

Both 7.30 kick-offs back underway

With the live table showing Forest level on 25 points with Everton.

Goal! Burnley 1-1 Wolves (Ait-Nouri, 45+2)

Wolves strike back, and it’s their rather useful full-back on the mark, with Pablo Sarabia supplying the assist.

Updated

Goal disallowed! Bournemouth 0-0 Crystal Palace

A goal from one of the very best players in the Premier League this season, Eberechi Eze, but here’s the offside flag to break that butterfly on a wheel.

Matt Burtz gets in touch: “As an Everton fan/apologist, I admit that them playing better than they did against Bournemouth is a low bar. I must point out, however, that the xG table has them above both Manchester United and West Ham, and their xG against is fifth best in the league. Scoring goals is the problem, as we know, but they have beaten Newcastle already this season.”

Half-time: Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Newcastle have been the better team, Everton anaemic once more after a good start to the game. Alexander Isak is a striker in form to whom Everton have no answer.

Goal! Burnley 1-0 Wolves (Bruun Larsen, 37)

Dara O’Shea, the Irish speedster, set that up with a long pass for a fine finish. Are Burnley beginning to believe?

Updated

Half-time: Nottingham Forest 3-0 Fulham

What a performance in the first 45 from Forest, with Morgan Gibbs-White ruling the roost but both Chris Wood and Callum Hudson-Odoi scoring fine goals, too.

Goal! West Ham 0-1 Tottenham (Brennan Johnson, 5)

That didn’t take long, with Timo Werner laying on the assist for a close-range finish.

Updated

Goal! Nottingham Forest 3-0 Fulham (Gibbs-White, 45+3)

The star man gets a deserved goal, playing the ball in a one-two before bursting on, and taking his time to convert. What a fine goal, Danilo playing his part.

Updated

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Isak, who is having a fine game, drops deep and then creates a chance for himself in turning and shooting, the ball deflected behind by Pickford.

Kick-off at the London Stadium

Away we go and you can follow the action here:

Forest 2-0 Fulham

Muniz at last gets a chance but can only head down a cross to be picked up. That was better from an improved Fulham.

Burnley 0-0 Wolves

Big miss for Joao Gomes for Wolves, a header he really might have done better with. Both those 7.45 kick-offs have been slow to get started.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

The best chance yet for Everton as Onana’s sharp pass allows Doucoure to turn and shoot. It’s well saved by Dubravka.

Forest 2-0 Fulham

Has the Forest fire abated? Yes, a little. Fulham’s changes have made something of an effect, and passing the ball a little better than before.

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

Isak tries to send Jacob Murphy away, but Pickford is aware to the danger. It’s Newcastle who continue to threaten, and Everton to look poor. Another Newcastle knock? It seems so, with Lewis Hall having taken a knock. He’s moving OK, a player in whom there is a doubt he can complete the 90.

Bournemouth 0-0 Crystal Palace

A bit less availability of info from these games but with no shots in the first 20 minutes, not much is being missed.

Updated

Forest 2-0 Everton

Fulham are preparing to make changes. It seems Marco Silva has seen quite enough of his team. Cairney, Willian and Traore off, as Lukic, Iwobi and Wilson off, too. The former Derby player is booed off.

Updated

Newcastle 1-0 Everton

That goal seems to have forced Everton back into their shell, and Newcastle have been passing the ball around nicely.

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham

It really is all Forest, as Gibbs-White – again – lays up a chance that Elanga hits wide. Forest could be four up here.

Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham

It continues to be all Forest at the City Ground. This is the type of defiance their fans wanted to see from them after that points deduction.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 2-0 Fulham (Wood, 19)

Chris Wood barrels through, loses the ball, and then as it comes back to him, he notices the keeper off his line and shoots. Leno was nowhere. Wood is bang in form, what a talisman.

Updated

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Fulham

Almost a repeat showing from Hudson-Odoi but instead this time his delay means the danger can be cleared away. Fulham have been far more open than Crystal Palace were at the weekend.

Goal! Newcastle 1-0 Everton (Isak, 15)

A third in a row for Isak, who scampers away from an ailing defence. He could have gone down after a couple of challenges but he scores. What a goal! Oh Everton.

Updated

Kick-off at the Vitality and Turf Moor

And away we go at the 7.45 kick-offs…

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

To be fair to Everton, they have been rather attacking at St James’, and are pressing at that rather weak Newcastle underbelly. They probably need a goal here.

Updated

Nottingham Forest 1-0 Fulham

If Nottingham Forest pull themselves clear, then they can thank Morgan Gibbs-White, who has been inspirational of late.

Goal! Nottingham Forest 1-0 Fulham (Hudson-Odoi, 9)

Gibbs-White sends Hudson’-Odoi away down the left, he cuts in, delays and just when the chance looks gone, smashes in. A huge goal in the relegation battle.

Updated

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

Beto wins a free-kick, with what seems a minimal touch on him. The ball’s whipped in for Tarkowski, and he can’t keep his header down. That’s a big miss.

Forest 0-0 Fulham

Some early involvement from Morgan Gibbs-White, with Callum Hudson-Odoi also on the scene. Looks like Forest are stepping it up from the start.

Newcastle 0-0 Everton

An early chase for Harvey Barnes and then the ball goes back in from Isak and Jordan Pickford is brave and makes a smothering stop. Great keeping, bad defending.

Kick-off at St James' and the City Ground

And away we go….

Shock news that Kalvin Phillips doesn’t start for the Hammers, but let’s hope he can find his way back soon. That wasn’t pleasant viewing on Saturday. Just one change for the Hammers, Alphonse Areola out and Lukasz Fabianski in.

Three Spurs changes: Radu Dragusin, Pape Matar Sarr and Dejan Kulusevski all drop to the bench. The excellent Micky Van de Ven starts at centre back, the rather good Rodrigo Bentancur plays in midfielder and the speedy Brennan Johnson begins on the wing. That’s some pretty good squad depth.

The big news of the day, which has an effect on this season’s EFL and perhaps next season’s EPL. Contrast Leicester with Brighton, who delivered the following results, per PA Media:

A post-tax profit of £122.8million for the 2022-23 season, up from £24.1m in the previous financial year. Turnover for the period was the club’s highest, rising by 17.2 per cent to £204.5m, against £174.5m in the 2021-22 campaign. The figures include the fees received for Alexis Mac Allister, Yves Bissouma and Marc Cucurella, as well as compensation for former head coach Graham Potter’s move to Chelsea.

Leicester meanwhile…

For Fulham, Timothy Castagne and Willian in, Harry Wilson and Kenny Tete out. Rodrigo Muniz is present and correct.

For Newcastle, Harvey Barnes gets a start as Anthony Gordon is missing out with his suspension. Emil Krafth and Lewis Hall come into that embattled defence, with Elliot Anderson coming in.

Four changes for Everton from that Bournemouth loss as Beto, Ashley Young, Vitalii Mykolenko and Idrissa Gueye come in for Seamus Coleman, James Garner, Jack Harrison and Dominic Calvert-Lewin make way.

Preamble

Here we go, here we go, this is it. Another round of matches to follow that you’ve just finished digesting. Plenty on the line, too, and with Tottenham v West Ham being catered for elsewhere – though with updates included here two games stand out especially. Newcastle attempt to follow up Saturday’s dramatic, if sapping defeat of West Ham, by playing Everton, who surely must be better than they were against Bournemouth, though anyone who’s seen them lately might dismiss that.

Nottingham Forest are out of the bottom four on goal difference, Chris Wood’s Uwe Seeler effort landing them a draw against Crystal Palace. Fulham, with Rodrigo Muniz looking like Brazil’s answer to “Dead Shot” Keen, could be troublesome for Nuno’s boys. Elsewhere, Palace themselves travel to Bournemouth and though both teams look safe, Oliver Glasner’s team has the greater need of a result. He was happy enough on Saturday with a draw at Forest. And, after a rousing comeback at Chelsea, can Burnley perform more heroics against Wolves; Craig Bellamy will be overseeing matters with Big Vin sat in the stands. That’s a lot of red-hot soccer for a Tuesday, so let’s try and keep you across it.

There’s staggered kick-offs, too:

  • Newcastle v Fulham, 7.30pm

  • Nottingham Forest v Fulham, 7.30pm

  • Bournemouth v Crystal Palace, 7.45pm

  • Burnley v Wolves, 7.45pm

  • West Ham v Tottenham, 8.15pm
