Newcastle United have handed promising young defender Kell Watts a new two-year deal.
The 22-year-old has been out on loan with League One promotion chasers Wigan this term after a successful spell at Plymouth Argyle last season.
Watts started pre-season in fine form and played in Newcastle's pre-season preparations at first-team level.

But it was decided to send Watts on loan in the EFL and consequently, the Academy product now has close to 100 senior appearances under his belt.
Newcastle feel that Watts has plenty to offer moving forward and believe that one day he could even play further up the field in a midfield position.
After signing the new deal Watts said: "I'm absolutely delighted.
"I've been at the club since I was eight so I am buzzing to get a new contract.
"All my family are thrilled and I can't wait to be working with the new manager next season."
