Newcastle United have agreed to loan Elliot Anderson to Bristol Rovers.
The attacking midfielder will spend the rest of the season in League Two under the watchful eye of Joey Barton.
Anderson was looked at by Luton Town and Sheff Wed but both Championship clubs opted against a move.
And so the door was open to clubs in the lower leagues with Rovers winning the race to sign the Scotland Under-21 international.
Anderson has made two appearances for Newcastle's first-team - both against Arsenal - but has not been afforded any further senior action.
