Newcastle United have offered both Matt Ritchie and Paul Dummett fresh terms ahead of the 2023/24 season.
And Eddie Howe hopes that both of his experienced campaigners will join him for the start of pre-season training early next month. Both Dummett and Ritchie barely featured last season in the Premier League but Howe hopes to involve both.
As it stands both have gone away to enjoy a summer break but Howe has underlined the importance of both players in recent times. On Ritchie, he said towards the end of the season: "I would love him to continue his journey with Newcastle next year but there will be conversations to take place before that happens."

Speaking on Dummett, who is approaching his 11th season as a senior at St James' Park, Howe has said: "I see Paul as part of our future. When you build a squad you are never going to be able to play everybody for the amount of time they want to.
"So you need players who are prepared to fight for their place, train well and have an effect on the group. Matt Ritchie, Paul Dummett, they are players who have not performed for the outside world, but internally they have been excellent for us."
Newcastle report for pre-season training in the first week of July and their first friendly will be away to Rangers at Ibrox on July 18.
