Newcastle United vs Fulham: Premier League prediction

Having floored Chelsea live on BT Sports this week, Fulham now head to St James' Park bidding to be the only team to inflict a home defeat on Newcastle United all season.

But even after such red hot form, winning every game since the World Cup, the Cottagers know they face a steep task as they head for the "cathedral on the hill" this weekend. Understandably, they have been thrown odds of 5/1 for what would still be a shock away win by Bet 365!

Newcastle must come down to earth after cup glory against Leicester and focus back on life in the Premier League. Despite remaining unbeaten in 13 Premier League matches, rival teams have played catch up a little in the table.

Indeed, Man United are now only behind on goal difference in fourth while Spurs have cut the gap down to just two points. However, if Newcastle can take three points this weekend something has to give in the top five.

Arsenal face Spurs in the North London derby while the Manchester clubs also go toe to toe. It could be very tight after this weekend's round of fixtures.

Lee Ryder's prediction

For all Fulham's fine form, I think this game is just too good an opportunity for Newcastle not to make a statement. The Cottagers will put up a fight I'd imagine but they have been known this season to take the lead and lose it in big games.

I'll go for a 3-1 win for the Magpies at St James' Park.

Referee

Rob Jones (Liverpool)

Despite issuing 55 yellow cards this season he is yet to send anybody off.

Betting

Newcastle are 1/2 to take three points while Fulham are priced at 5/1. Odds of a draw are 7/2 with Bet 365.
