Newcastle United vs Everton: Lee Ryder's Premier League preview

Newcastle United winger Allan Saint-Maximin got it right this week when he said that draws are no longer much use to the much-maligned Magpies.

Every point in the Premier League is hard earned and even holding Everton to a stalemate won't be easy.

A win in this fixture for Eddie Howe means everything in some ways especially as Watford have a tough away day at West Ham and Burnley host Man United.

Three points mean Newcastle will be out of the relegation zone before bedtime if their rivals fail to win.

Lee Ryder's predicton

A few weeks ago, Newcastle would have been rubbing their hands at the prospect of facing the Toffees.

But Lampard has lifted spirits at Goodison Park and has Dele Alli and Donny van de Beek on standby for their debuts in blue.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also likely to play some part in this clash and could be a dangerous option from the bench.

Newcastle have Bruno Guimarães and Matt Targett ready to make their Toon bows too and they have the rare feeling of going into the game on the back of a win at Leeds, albeit 18 days ago.

The stakes couldn't be higher for both sides but I'll go for a score draw at St James' Park.

Referee

Anthony Taylor (Manchester)

The man in the middle takes charge of his first game since the 4-1 defeat at Man United.
