Newcastle United transfers state of play: Two long-serving stars that could leave this summer

Juventus have set a £52million asking price for Italy international Federico Chiesa with pace gathering on the winger's Serie A exit.

The 25-year-old looks set to leave Juve this summer with the Serie A side eager to cash in on the player as he enters the last two years of his contract. The Turin club believe they can get maximum value for Chiesa this summer.

Chiesa is also admired by Liverpool and Bayern Munich but neither side have made an official bid for the Euro 2020 winner. Newcastle could afford Chiesa's £150,000 per week wages and offer him Champions League football.

Like a number of players, Chiesa is not seeing eye to eye with Juventus boss Massimiliano Allegri at Juventus. This led to talks on a contract extension being parked and resulted in Juventus pricing up the player for an exit.

Newcastle won't stand in the way of Javier Manquillo exit

The full-back has just one year left on his current deal at Newcastle and could leave St James' Park this summer. Manquillo made just six appearances for United last season but his attitude was never in question under Eddie Howe.

Manquillo is attracting interest from Spain and Newcastle will not make life awkward for interested clubs. Newcastle's move for a full-back, with Tino Livramento of Southampton linked heavily, means that they would be overloaded with right-backs.

Kieran Trippier is first choice but Newcastle have Emil Krafth returning from an ACL injury and Harrison Ashby as back-up. The arrival of another full-back would probably see former West Ham youngster Ashby sent out on loan.

Jamaal Lascelles' future remains unclear

The club captain was linked with a move to newly promoted Luton Town early in this summer's window. But after a season in which he showed he was willing to fight for his place, it remains uncertain whether that will be the case for the 2023/24 campaign.

West Ham are another club credited with interest in the skipper as the Hammers look to build on a season where expectations will be raised after they hoised the Europa Conference League last term. At 29, it is understandable that Lascelles is keen to play first-team football.

Lascelles' current contract at St James' Park expires in 2024. He has served the club since 2015 when he arrived as a youngster from Nottingham Forest.
