Newcastle United cleared their first major hurdle of the summer transfer window by completing a deal for Sandro Tonali.
The Italian international is now signed, sealed and delivered and will join up with his team-mates in due course at the club's Benton base. Tonali must now wait to see who follows him next as Newcastle look to get another deal done before jetting out to the United States on pre-season.

Here's a look at where things stand on a number of other targets for the Magpies.
Harvey Barnes
Newcastle opted against signing Barnes' former team-mate James Maddison but the one-time England international is now back in pre-season training with the Championship side. The black and whites have been long-term admirers of Barnes but there is also interest from West Ham who should soon be boosted by a £105million cash injection from the sale of Declan Rice.
Barnes has a price tag of £35million and has two years left on his Leicester contract meaning the Foxes can name their price. One positive for Eddie Howe is that Barnes shares the same agency as the Newcastle head coach.
Tino Livramento
The Southampton full-back was linked heavily with Newcastle last week but woke up to reports that his old club Chelsea want to take him back. Another Wasserman client, Livramento missed the majority of last season with a cruciate injury and the relegated Saints are holding out for £38million for his services.
He originally joined Southampton for £8million but Chelsea are entitled to a sell on clause if he did end up signing for Newcastle. There seems to be work to be done for Livramento's representatives on this one.
Gabri Veiga
Veiga now has Rafa Benitez as his manager so as Newcastle fans know it's not beyond the realms of possibility he tries to get him to stay! Viega is represented by "super agent" Pini Zahavi with Chronicle sources in Spain suggesting yesterday saying that Veiga's people were briefing he was a target of Chelsea and PSG no less.
With Mason Mount leaving Stamford Bridge the suggestion is that Veiga could be his replacement. He is believed to have a release clause of £34.4m.
Karl Darlow
The long serving stopper has been heavily linked with Leeds United in the past few days and was understood to be in talks yesterday. AFC Bournemouth are also interested and Eddie Howe would not stand in his way if he got a good move.
A £5million fee has been mooted which would boost the coffers at St James' Park too. With Darlow needing first-team football at 32, it seems like a no brainer.
