Newcastle United transfer rumours: Magpies plot '£10million move' for young Brazilian

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Tuesday, May 30.

Arsenal ready to sell to Newcastle United

Football Insider claims Arsenal are ready to sell Kieran Tierney to Newcastle United. The 25-year-old defender is said to be making a decision on his future in the coming weeks with the Magpies keen on bolstering their squad.

Eddie Howe was keen on signing the former Celtic defender during his time at Bournemouth and could finally get his wish at St. James' Park with the left-back poised for an exit. The Scotland international has struggled for game time at Arsenal this season mainly due to the excellent for of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The report claims an offer in the region of £30million would see Arsenal accept a bid, with Newcastle gearing up for a return to Champions League football.

Newcastle United plotting £10million move for defensive midfielder

Newcastle United are said to be keeping a close eye on São Paulo’s defensive midfielder Pablo Maia, according to reports in Brazil from journalist Jorge Nicola, then relayed by Bolavip Brazil. The 21-year-old would fit the bill for the holding midfield role that Eddie Howe's side are said to be looking for.

Maia mainly operated as a defensive midfielder last year but also showcased his ability as a centre-back. He scored three goals in 23 appearances for the Brazilian club which has sparked Newcastle's interest.

Journalist Nicola claims the player’s agent, Junior Pedroso, informed him about a Newcastle United scouting party. “What Junior told me is that Pablo Maia has been targeted by a Newcastle scout.

"When the English team is looking for a player, he (scout) starts to observe, even if from a distance, the numbers, behaviour, performance, before taking the decision to buy him or not.

“Pablo Maia should receive offers in the middle of the year, if not from Newcastle, from other clubs. He is, today, the most ready and valued player, and who most animates the international market (…). The player can guarantee, at least, €10m,” Nicola explained.
