Your Newcastle United transfer round-up for Saturday, February 26.
Newcastle in for Chelsea star
Newcastle have made an offer to Andreas Christensen, according to FC Inter News. The Chelsea defender’s contract expires at the end of the season and talks at Stamford Bridge have stalled.
The Denmark international earns around £83,000-a-week but the deal from Newcastle - believed to be a four-year contract - is more lucrative. Spurs are also reportedly keeping tabs on the centre-back.
Sule to the Toon?
The same outlet, FC Inter News, claims the Magpies are back in the hunt for Bayern Munich defender Niklas Sule.
The German defender - who has played 37 times for the national side - is a mainstay in the Bavarian outfit’s backline.
Reports linked Newcastle with a move for the 26-year-old in January, with Sule’s contract also expiring in the summer.
Toon chiefs will be looking to add more defensive reinforcements in the summer despite the arrival of Dan Burn and Kieran Trippier.
National League star on Toon radar
Newcastle and Crystal Palace are ‘tracking’ National League North forward Josh Stones, according to TEAMTalk.
The 18-year-old is plying his trade for Guiseley in the sixth tier of English football but has attracted interest from a host of top clubs after a string of stellar performances.
Stones is part of the England schoolboy setup and scored for the Young Lions in a friendly against Palace’s academy.
Several clubs in the Championship are also believed to be showing interest.
