Newcastle United transfer rumours as Magpies join winger race and Dembele offered 'big contract'

Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Saturday, 12 February 2022.

Newcastle in winger race

Newcastle United have reportedly joined Leeds United in the race to sign Nantes winger Moses Simon.

That is according to OwnGoalNigeria, who claim that Simon is their prime target this summer if they remain in the Premier League.

Leeds were said to have made a move for Simon last month, but the report states that Newcastle have now leapfrogged the Whites in the race.

The Magpies are reportedly happy to meet the £20 million asking price for the 26-year-old, who has two goals and six assists in Ligue 1 this season.

Dembele contract

Newcastle United have reportedly offered Ousmane Dembele a sizeable contract ahead of a potential free transfer this summer, according to Daily Express journalist Ryan Taylor.

Dembele is out of contract at Barcelona at the end of this season and has failed to agree an extension on his current deal.

Several clubs, including PSG and Chelsea, have also been linked with Dembele but Taylor claims that Newcastle have also thrown their hat into the ring.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “From what I understand, they’ve already made an offer to his agent for a pre-contract agreement, quite a big one as well. So, there is interest in Dembele.”

Howe denies Dubravka reports

Eddie Howe has calmly denied suggestions Martin Dubravka was offered to Manchester United on deadline day.

Dubravka was linked with a swap deal with Dean Henderson towards the end of the window but Howe, who played down interest in the Old Trafford back-up man last week, now wanted to make it clear to concerned supporters that the Slovakia star was also going nowhere.

Speaking at his press conference, Howe said: "There was absolutely no truth in Martin Dubravka being offered to Manchester United from our side.

"That is - absolutely - not the truth."
