Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Sunday, July 3.
Lyon manager willing to keep Paqueta
Lucas Paqueta continues to be linked with a move to Newcastle where he would link up with his former team mate, and best friend, Bruno Guimaraes. The excitement amongst the Toon Army reached its climax when he was seen playing football with his compatriot in the North-east wearing a United shirt before the end of the season.
Paqueta’s club, Lyon, were reportedly unhappy with his movements away from the club and he was subsequently benched for their final game of the season. That led to rumours of a fall out between the 24-year-old and his manager.

Although, according to L’Equipe (via Inside Futbol), Peter Bosz would be happy to keep hold of his star midfielder amid rumours regarding his future. With three years still left on his contract, it would take a huge offer to tempt the Ligue 1 side into selling the Brazilian so they are preparing to start the season with him very much part of the squad.
Ashworth considering move for Tielemans
Another midfielder who has been linked with a move this summer is Leicester City’s Youri Tielemans. The Foxes were expecting to receive offers for the 25-year-old this summer after they were unable to qualify for any of the three European competitions.
Although, despite reported interest – most notably from Arsenal – there has been no movement so far this summer. As per CBS’ Ben Jacobs, the Magpies are now considering a move.
He said on
: “There is a growing feeling Newcastle could enter the Tielemans race, too. Dan Ashworth has already made enquiries.
“Challenge for #NUFC would be convincing Tielemans how he fits into a midfield with Joelinton, Bruno and Shelvey. One to watch...”
Toon in battle with Roma for Isco
To continue on the topic of in-demand midfielders, it is worth mentioning Isco whose contract at Real Madrid expired a couple of days ago. Unsurprisingly, several clubs have been credited with an interest in the five-time Champions League winner.
A fresh report in Spanish daily AS has claimed that the battle for his signature is currently being won by both Newcastle and Jose Mourinho’s Roma. Meanwhile, Real Betis hold an interest in the Spaniard as well as teams in Turkey and the Middle East.
