Newcastle United transfer rumours as 'interest shown' by Manchester United in Magpies star

Here are the Newcastle United transfer rumours on Wednesday, November 2.

'Interest shown' by Manchester United in Newcastle United star

Manchester United showed interest in signing Newcastle United star Miguel Almiron before he signed with the Magpies in 2019.

Almiron has been one of the best players in the Premier League so far this season and has proved doubters wrong after netting seven times in the first 13 games.

According to Almiron's agent Daniel Campos, there was also interest from league leaders Arsenal but the Paraguayan turned down the offer as the North London side only wanted it to be a loan move.

"Miguel Almiron is a footballer who went from less to more, now he is a more complete footballer," Campos told Paraguayan radio station ABC Cardinal.

"There was interest shown by Manchester United in Miguel Almiron but they never made an offer. Arsenal and Southampton offered loan deals for Miguel Almiron but we did not want it to be a loan."

Eddie Howe wants 'extraordinary' £50 million left-back as he could sign for free next summer

Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe could land Portuguese left-back Alex Grimaldo but will face a lot of competition including top European teams when his contract runs out next summer.

Transfer guru Rudy Galetti has said that Juventus, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Manchester City are all interested in pursuing the 27-year-old who is much more technically gifted than Matt Targett.

Having been at Benfica since 2016, he already has two goals and four assists this campaign after producing six goals and nine assists last year.

Writing for The Insider, Galetti was clear that Newcastle would face a lot of stiff competition for the full-back but is convinced they have a good chance of landing his services.

"However, the Italian club is not the only one interested in Grimaldo: we had said that Inter, Napoli, Manchester City and Arsenal were following the player as well, but now - in the race for the Spaniard - also Newcastle have entered with a great determination.

"The Magpies coach really appreciates the Spaniard and the fact that Eddie Howe and Grimaldo have the same agent could be a plus for Newcastle.

"The player, as already reported, has communicated to his current club that he wants to leave Portugal to start a new experience elsewhere and certainly the charm of the Premier League could satisfy him.

"In any case, Juventus will do everything to get Alejandro Grimaldo to Turin as a free agent next summer: at the moment it is a match between black and white teams. In the coming weeks, we will know who will win this race."
