Benjamin Sesko fits Newcastle United bill after Eddie Howe transfer 'change'
Newcastle United fans were sent into meltdown on Wednesday when the agent of Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko posted an Instagram story while enjoying a meal on the Quayside. Social media was ablaze with supporters suddenly speculating as to whether the agent, Elvis Basanovic, was on Tyneside to offer his client to the Magpies.
Sesko, 19, is destined for a huge career and is already being dubbed the 'Mini-Haaland' for his Salzburg exploits to date. The striker enjoyed an impressive season in Austria last term and is expected to replace Karim Adeyemi as the club's top forward this season.
The player certainly fits the bill when it comes to what Eddie Howe is looking for after 20-year-old Hugo Ekitike snubbed an offer from Newcastle to join PSG earlier this month. The Magpies boss is keen to add firepower to his ranks this summer and recently admitted he has changed his stance on bringing in young talent from further afield this window.
Newcastle United told to splash the cash on Alexander Isak
Former Arsenal striker Kevin Campbell has told Newcastle United to splash the cash on Real Sociedad striker Alexander Isak. The Swedish international has been linked with a £60million move to St. James' Park as the Magpies look to bolster their options up front.
When asked if Isak would be worth the big transfer fee, Campbell told Football Insider: "I think he is. He is a really good player. He is a really good all-round player.
“I’d say like to say Newcastle don’t have to go out and buy a striker this summer but Callum Wilson really struggled with injury last season. He really struggled.
“When he came back he proved that he is a handful for any defence. He showed what he can do. The best ability is availability. Wilson just hasn’t been available enough. I could see them doing the Isak deal.
“One thing he will do is lead the line brilliantly. Isak is a great all-rounder. He will score goals at Newcastle. I don’t think he’d be prolific but I think he’d get into double figures, considering the players they have in attack.”
Magpies at the front of the race to sign Sékou Mara
According to Foot Mercato, Newcastle United are at the front of the queue to sign Bordeaux striker Sékou Mara. The Magpies will face competition from Aston Villa and Leeds United to sign the £10million rated forward this summer, with interest from St. James' Park said to be 'very concrete.'
The France under-20 international scored six goals in his breakthrough season in Ligue 1 last term, despite still being just 19-years-old. Mara made the majority of his appearances from the bench and looks set to leave Bordeaux after they were relegated from Ligue 1 last season.
