Newcastle United make '£35million offer for Milinkovic-Savic
Calciomercato, reports Mateja Kezman - agent of Sergej Milinkovic-Savic - has collected bids from Newcastle United, Arsenal and West Ham for the Lazio midfielder.
The former Chelsea striker, says all three Premier League clubs have offered in the region of £35m for Milinkovic-Savic, who is expected to leave the Serie A side this summer.
Lazio are keen on keeping the Serbian midfielder, who has scored 11 goals and notched 11 assists last season. The Serbian international will be out of contract in the summer of 2024 and the Magpies are believed to be monitoring the midfielder.
Eddie Howe's side are keen on adding to their midfield department in the upcoming transfer window, with Newcastle currently light in that area.
Magpies warned about a Saudi bid for Manchester United
Football finance expert Kieran Maguire has warned a Saudi Arabian bid for Manchester United could see the Magpies become second best. The Red Devils are currently up for sale, with a number of prospective buyers, with one Saudi investment group reportedly interested.
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has just won the rights to host the 2023 Club World Cup, with Maguire claiming the Middle East rulers will be happy with how the purchase of Newcastle United has impacted how they're viewed globally.
“There is no doubt that Saudi Arabia is now a big player in terms of rights for individual tournaments,” Maguire told Football Insider. “The awarding of the Club World Cup is further evidence of this.
“It puts Newcastle United in a very strong position moving forward unless there is a Saudi-backed bid for Man United. In that case, it’d be awkward to see which of the two clubs would be favoured by the Saudi regime.
“But there is no doubt that Saudi Arabia want to continue using sport to expand influence and awareness of the country. They’ve achieved that through Newcastle in the last 18 months or so and hosting tournaments with a view to eventually getting the 2030 World Cup is another step forward for them.“
