Tielemans to the Toon?
French media site Jeunes Footeux claims Newcastle have nudged ahead of Arsenal in the race to sign Youri Tielemans. The Belgian came close to leaving Leicester City last summer and has one year left on his contract.
A cut-price deal could be on the table in January if Tielemans does not pen an extension soon. Signing a midfielder of the 25-year-old’s ilk would be a statement of intent from Eddie Howe & Co.

The report suggests Newcastle are preparing a £17million offer in January. Leicester may be forced to sell or risk losing Tielemans - valued at £50million - for nothing at the end of the season.
Prem trio tussle
The same outlet has named Newcastle alongside West Ham United and Wolves as Premier League sides that are interested in Viktor Tsygankov. The Dynamo Kyiv winger is out of contract next summer and is likely to leave on a free.
Russia’s ongoing invasion of Ukraine postponed all football in the country until recently, with UEFA fixtures at “home’ being played in neighbouring Poland. Tsygankov is a talented wideman who can play on either flank - an area which Toon chiefs were looking to strengthen last month.
West Ham are also a winger short, making David Moyes’ side a plausible option for the 24-year-old.
Kuol on the brink
Garang Kuol is expected to sign a four-year deal at Newcastle, according to Australian reports. As he turns 18 today, the youngster will unlikely be the short-term solution for United.
However, signing the striker is further proof that Dan Ashworth is keen to upgrade the youth setup. The Magpies made several low-key signings in the off-season to bolster the academy ranks and Kuol - recently called up to Australia for the first time - fits the bill.
His brother, Alou, is a striker for Bundesliga outfit Stuttgart. Kuol is a product of the Central Coast Mariners academy.
