Newcastle United transfer news: Magpies 'make first approach' for Raphinha amid Karl Darlow interest

A look at the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Tuesday, June 13.

Magpies make 'first approach' for Barcelona winger

Newcastle United have reportedly already made their first approach to sign Barcelona winger Raphinha last month. Spanish publication Sport claim an offer in the region of €80million would see Barca grant permission to speak with the Brazilian winger.

Xavi has already spoken about his desire to keep Raphinha at the club next summer, having been a mainstay in the La Liga title winning side this season. The 26-year-old signed at the Nou Camp last summer, finalising his dream move from Leeds United and Elland Road.

Barca are keen on keeping Raphinha at the club next season but their financial predicament may impact his ability to stay at the club. There are conflicting reports regarding which players Xavi sees as having a future at the Nou Camp, and they could be forced to sell some of their star players.

Boro and Hull City target Karl Darlow

Both Middlesbrough and Hull City are competing to sign Karl Darlow from Newcastle United this summer.

Alan Nixon claims, via his Patreon, Newcastle will allow the 32-year-old shot stopper to leave St. James' Park this summer with Boro keen on his services. Darlow joined the Tigers in January on loan until the end of the season and was a mainstay in Liam Rosenior's side after breaking into the team.

The Magpies' shot stopper had to bide his time but made 12 appearances with City and helped steer them away from relegation and towards a mid-table finish.

Newcastle's qualification for the Champions League means it's likely they'll invest into the squad again this summer, with Nick Pope, Martin Dubravka and Loris Karius now ahead of Darlow in the pecking order.
