Your Newcastle United transfer round-up for Sunday, December 25.
World Cup star on the move?
Ligue 1 outfit Angers are prepared to sell midfielder Azzedine Ounahi, according to GiveMeSport. Newcastle are one of several clubs linked with the Moroccan after his eye-catching displays at the World Cup.
Ounahi was one of the standout players as Morocco upset the apple cart to reach the quarter-final. The report suggests Angers would prefer to sell their asset at the end of the season but would be helpless to keep him if a sizable offer comes in next month.
Leicester City and Leeds United are also thought to be keeping tabs on the 22-year-old, valued at £35million.
Trippier heir found?
Italian sports journalist Fabrizio Romano has listed Newcastle as a possible destination for Cody Drameh. An England under-21 international, he has made two appearances for the Whites’ senior side this season.
Kieran Trippier is the undisputed first choice on Tyneside but, at 32, cannot be regarded as the long-term answer. Romano has highlighted Drameh as the possible heir to Trippier’s throne.
He tweeted: “Leeds are now fighting to keep Cody Drameh at the club after Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund interest. Crystal Palace and Bournemouth are also interested – but Jesse Marsch will push again to keep Cody Drameh by suggesting playing opportunities. Loan, not an option.”
Prem trio tussle
TuttoJuve claim Newcastle, Liverpool and Arsenal are expressing interest in Real Valladolid youngster Ivan Fresneda. Similarly to Drameh, the Spaniard has burst onto the scene in 2022.
Four caps for Spain under-19 makes him one of the most promising talents in La Liga. Dan Ashworth has signed several youngsters since he was appointed sporting director in attempts to bolster the club’s academy.
Real Madrid and Barcelona - who Newcastle beat to sign Australian wonderkid Garang Kuol - are also chasing Fresneda.
