Barkley warns Gordon
Former Chelsea misfit Ross Barkley has reportedly told Anthony Gordon to snub a move to Chelsea. The 29-year-old endured a tough four-year spell at Stamford Bridge before joining Ligue 1 outfit Nice last summer.
A once-promising career stuttered when Barkley left Everton to join the Blues in 2018. Lavish spending from new Chelsea owner Todd Boehly would make competition for places tough should Gordon head south, making Newcastle a more appealing option.

Wingers Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke have already arrived this month. Throw Christian Pulisic, Raheem Sterling, Kai Havertz, Hakim Ziyech and another new face, Joao Felix, into the mix and Gordon could see his career face the same problems as Barkley's.
Third Franca bid rejected
Brazilian reporter Vene Casagrande is claiming Newcastle have faced another snub in their pursuit of Matheus Franca. A €13million bid was rejected earlier this month, forcing the Magpies to return with another offer.
The second bid was around €14million, with an extra €2million in bonuses, but also failed to reach Flamengo’s valuation. A third approach did not provide any luck as that offer, understood to be €16million up front, was swiftly rejected.
The reporter has revealed Flamengo want €20million for the 18-year-old and a 50 percent sell-on clause insisted into any deal. That fee would make Franca the most expensive teenager in Newcastle’s history.
Everton questioned
Former Reading midfielder Jobi McAnuff has questioned Everton’s handling of the Gordon situation. Speaking to Sky Sports, the 41-year-old urged the Toffees to keep the winger if they want to stay in the Premier League.
“I think that brings us to the really important point, in terms of the timing of the decision to let Frank Lampard go,” McAnuff said. “The window, how many days have we got left now? Who is in control over who we are buying and selling, in terms of keeping Everton in the Premier League?
“When you look at Anthony Gordon, if he is going to stay, then you need to get him back, get him back into the team and doing what he was doing earlier on in the season. He absolutely will help you stay up. But that uncertainty is thrown into the mix, which isn’t a help.”
