Newcastle United transfer gossip as Magpies in race for AC Milan star and Osimhen update emerges

Here are the latest Newcastle United transfer rumours on Wednesday, May 4.

Leao race

Newcastle United are reportedly the club most strongly interested in AC Milan forward Rafael Leao this summer. That is according to Italian newspaper La Repubblica, who claim that Liverpool, Manchester City, Borussia Dortmund and Barcelona are also keen on the Portugal international.

Newcastle are keen on signing a new striker this summer and Leao is a player capable of playing both down the middle and off the left. The 22-year-old has been one of the shining lights for Milan this season as they close in on the Serie A title, with 13 goals and seven assists in all competitions.

Osimhen deal

Newcastle United would reportedly be willing to double Victor Osimhen’s wages as a way of tempting him to St. James’ Park. As mentioned previously, the Magpies are keen on a new forward this summer and Osimhen is a name that has cropped up on several occasions.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato.com, via Inside Futbol, Newcastle can offer him twice what he is earning currently at Napoli in order to beat both Manchester United and Arsenal to his signature. One stumbling block, though, could be that the Italian side are demanding a fee of around €100 million.

Lukaku rejection

Romelu Lukaku will reportedly reject any offer that may come his way from Newcastle United this summer. After just one year at Chelsea, Lukaku could leave the club this summer with the Belgian striker having struggled to make an impact following his €100 million move from Inter Milan almost a year ago.

However, according to the Evening Standard, Lukaku will turn down any potential interest from Newcastle, who are thought to be one of the few sides in Europe that could afford his mammoth fee and wage package. AC Milan have also been linked with the 28-year-old, but they too are not of interest to Lukaku.
