Newcastle United transfer gossip as Brazilian winger linked amid Eden Hazard claim

Here are your Newcastle United transfer rumours on Monday, November 14.

Frank McAvennie claims Eden Hazard would represent 'a good bit of business' for Newcastle United

Former Celtic and West Ham United forward Frank McAvennie reckons Eden Hazard could be a good signing for Newcastle United on loan.

The Belgian ace moved to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019 from Chelsea, but has failed to impress in the Spanish capital.

Injuries have prevented Hazard from performing to the best of his ability, with Real Madrid said to be keen on moving 31-year-old as soon as possible.

Hazard has made just six appearances in all competitions this term and his contract is set to expire in 2024. But despite his struggles in recent seasons, McAvennie believes a loan move to St James' Park for Hazard could be an excellent signing for Newcastle.

"He [Hazard] is a great player but what is it Newcastle are going to get," McAvennie told Football Insider.

"He has not set the world on fire, he is not getting a game. [Philippe] Coutinho was the same, he is not getting a game now. It depends what you get. He might take a loan deal because he is that playmaker. He might find it great at Newcastle with all the young players around him.

"I would not spend any money on him. Newcastle are on the up. Maybe they just want to bring a serial winner into the dressing room to show the young boys how to act. If they get the Hazard that can play but he has been bit-part at Real Madrid. It would be a good bit of business for Newcastle though."

Newcastle United monitoring Brazilian winger Jeffinho

Newcastle United are said to be monitoring promising Botafogo winger Jeffinho. According to Brazilian journalist Jose Passini, both the Magpies and West Ham United took in the 22-year-old's performance for Botafogo against Fluminense at the Maracana.

Additionally, Passini also claims Newcastle were in attendance for Botafogo's recent 3-0 win over Santos, which saw Jeffinho play all 90 minutes.

The Brazilian winger is a versatile prospect who can operate on both flanks, although he predominately plays off the left-hand side. While Newcastle are able to spend money in the upcoming January transfer window, South America is a market the Magpies and head of recruitment Steve Nickson are keen on exploring, in order to unearth gems like Brighton & Hove Albion have done in recent years.
