Newcastle United supporters travelling to Austria next month will be in for a treat as they watch the Magpies take on two German opponents as part of their pre-season preparations.
Eddie Howe's side will face 1860 Munich on July 15th at the SaalfeldenArena Burgerau, before taking on Mainz 05 on July 18th at the Kufstein Arena. But it is the former venue that fans will look forward to visiting as they watch Newcastle and their new summer signings in action.
Plonked in the middle of the picturesque Austrian town of Saalfelden, the 1,500 capacity arena boasts some of the best views in world football. Situated in the Berchtesgaden Alps, the Untersberg mountains can be seen in the background as the football is unfolding on the pitch.

The open-air arena is also used for concerts and other events throughout the year, as well as hosting FC Pingzau during the Austrian football season. The club currently plays in the Austrian Regionalliga Salzburg which is the third tier of football.
Liverpool chose the spectacular destination for their pre-season preparations back in 2020, while Watford took on Ajax at the location under Javi Gracia. Red Salzburg and Ajax will play a friendly there just four days after Newcastle's.
Newcastle will face Benfica in an away friendly on July 26th in Portugal. The end of pre-season consists of two home clashes, which were confirmed earlier in the summer. Atalanta will be at St. James' Park on July 29th, with a friendly against Athletic Bilbao taking place the following day.
Newcastle fans will be able to purchase tickets for the SaalfeldenArena fixture and others in due course.
