Newcastle United to give Bruno Guimaraes' trip to France the green light - regardless of injury woes

Bruno Guimaraes will be allowed to link up with Brazil for their World Cup warm-up games against Ghana and Tunisia - regardless of whether he plays or not against AFC Bournemouth.

This will be the last fixture in the Premier League before the final international break ahead of the World Cup, and Bruno is expected to be a big part of Seleção's plans in Qatar.

The games take place in France, with the Ghana clash in La Havre and the Tunisia encounter in Paris, meaning Newcastle boss Eddie Howe is relaxed about the short distance for Bruno to travel during the international break. International rules mean that Brazil are permitted to let their own doctors assess any injury concerns on their players.

Howe told Chronicle Live today: "We have been in contact with Brazil's medical team and have had really good communication between both parties.

"They are obviously very interested in Bruno's situation and they want to know how he is. So there has been open communication between us."

The midfielder has missed three Premier League matches for United this season after suffering a hamstring injury at Prenton Park during the 2-1 win over Tranmere Rovers. Bruno was sent on with the possibility of penalties still in the air on the Wirral that night.

But Howe did not want to send him on cold and wanted to give him five minutes of action to warm up. Howe said that Bruno has "improved" in the build-up to the Bournemouth game and would not rule out his return.
