TalkSPORT pundit and former England winger Trevor Sinclair has tipped Newcastle United to narrowly miss out on the European places ahead of the 2022/23 season.
Sinclair gave his predictions for the top eight in the Premier League next season, and while Newcastle did make his list, he believes the Magpies will narrowly miss out on European football. However, Sinclair has tipped Eddie Howe's side to improve on last term's finish.
The pundit believes his former club Manchester City will once again be crowned Premier League champions, with Liverpool finishing a place behind them to complete the same top two as last season. He has tipped Tottenham and Chelsea to take third and fourth respectively, with Arsenal and Manchester United missing out on Champions League football in fifth and sixth.
"West Ham are seventh," said Sinclair on TalkSPORT. "Newcastle are eighth."
An eighth-placed finish would be a three-place improvement on last season for the Magpies, who narrowly missed out on a place in the top half following an impressive second half to the campaign.
Many are tipping Newcastle for big things this season, with this being the first summer they've had under their new owners. Left-back Matt Targett, England goalkeeper Nick Pope and highly-rated defender Sven Botman have joined the club this summer, with Newcastle now looking to add more goals to the side.
