Newcastle United target ‘worth €200million’ as Mykhailo Mudryk comparison made

Former Barcelona midfielder Igor Korneev believes Goncalo Ramos could be worth €200million this summer. Last year, ChronicleLive understood there to be firm interest from Newcastle United in the forward.

A stellar breakout season sparked rumours about a potential £20million move - a fee that would be laughed off now given his progress since. Ramos made himself known to Toon supporters by bagging the opener in Benfica’s 3-2 pre-season win over Newcastle in August.

A further 23 goals in 34 games across all competitions has only fuelled the hype, with the 21-year-old top of the goalscoring charts in the Primeira Liga. Not only that, but replacing Cristiano Ronaldo in the World Cup before scoring a hat-trick against Switzerland also introduced him to an international audience.

Speaking to Portuguese outlet Record, ex-Russian international Korneev raved about Ramos - using Chelsea record signing Mykhailo Mudryk as a barometer for how much Newcastle would need to pay.

“I believe he will be transferred for around €120 million,” Korneev said. “If Mudryk was bought for 100 million euros, then he is worth €200million.

“Basically, he has no weaknesses. He's fast, he's strong, and we understand he can beat one or two opponents in a small space. In an absolutely unbelievable way, he spins and completely changes direction. And I'm not just talking about his performance at the World Cup. He plays well with both feet."
