Newcastle United supporters send 'real deal' warning to top four rivals after Man United victory

Newcastle United supporters have hailed their team as the 'real deal' after their 2-0 win over Manchester United saw Eddie Howe's side move up to third in the Premier League.

Goals from Joe Willock and Callum Wilson in the second-half ensured that Newcastle claimed all three points over Man United on Sunday afternoon. The Carabao Cup defeat was well and truly a thing of the past come full-time as the Magpies overtook the Red Devils in third place.

Newcastle were superb in the first-half as they did everything but find the back of the net and Willock himself was guilty of squandering a couple of chances to put his team ahead. The two sides headed down the tunnel level at the break and there were some concerns over the Red Devils ability to come back into the game and punish the hosts for their lack of ruthlessness in front of goal.

However, those fears were soon put to bed when Willock finally got on the scoresheet in the 65th minute to give Newcastle the lead. A dinked cross to the far post from Bruno Guimaraes was headed back into the middle by Allan Saint-Maximin before the former Arsenal man finished off from close range.

After being introduced in the 80th minute, Wilson had doubled their lead just two minutes from time as he scored his first goal since February. He rose highest to smartly head home a Kieran Trippier free-kick that wrapped up a well-deserved victory for Newcastle over their top four rivals.

Shortly after the full-time whistle blew, fans could not help themselves as they took to social media to praise their side for what they saw as a huge result in their bid for a place in the Champions League next season.
