Newcastle United supporters are thrilled after their side drew Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup fourth round. A penalty shoot-out victory over Crystal Palace on Wednesday ensured the Magpies place in the next stage of the competition.
The last time Newcastle reached this stage was in 2020. Spot-kicks were required on that occasion, too, as United edged out lower-league outfit Newport County. However, defeat to Brentford in the following round would serve as one of Steve Bruce's most forgettable results as Toon boss.
Newcastle are undefeated in the fourth round since a 2-0 extra-time loss to Chelsea in November 2004. Goals from Eidur Gudjohnsen and Arjen Robben put Graeme Souness' side to the sword that night.

Overall, Toon supporters appear happy with how the draw turned out - despite Newcastle failing to beat Bournemouth at home in September. Elsewhere, Manchester City drew Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium.
This is how fans reacted online after the news was announced...
@NUFCLC: "Come on. Please play our full team as well."
@S0utherGe0rdie: "Name's on the cup. Bring it home."
@NUFCxRepublic: "Not the easiest game but good that one of Liverpool/City will be out. Brighton will be tough as well likely in the next round."
@LaneHusband1: "Very happy with a home tie. Full-strength team in another sell-out game should see us in the quarter-finals. City getting Liverpool is beautiful as one of them will be sent packing."
@MaxwellA98: "Take that every day(night) of the week. Not pushovers.. but a team we should be beating."
@stee2472: "The draw has been kind to us on paper so let's make it count lads."
