Newcastle United supporters have taken aim at Stan Collymore after the former Liverpool striker suggested Eddie Howe could be sacked if the Magpies qualify for the Champions League. The Toon are currently third in the Premier League table, two points ahead of Tottenham Hotspur in fifth having played the same number of games.
Collymore believes the Newcastle owners could bring in a head coach with experience of playing in Europe to help further their ambitions. However, the black and white faithful have branded that call ridiculous.
Howe has unified the fanbase and helped transform the Magpies from relegation favourites into European contenders. For the calendar year of 2022, the Toon boss registered more points per game than any of his predecessors, notching more than the likes of Kevin Keegan and Sir Bobby Robson in years gone by.

Even if Newcastle were to miss out on Champions League football, supporters would not be too disheartened given their over achievement this season. Many had the Toon down as European outsiders, not top-four contenders.
Here's what Newcastle United supporters had to say in response to Collymore's comments:
@Lewyavery said: "Ridiculous statement! If he manages to get us top 4, I don’t care whose available manager wise. We have to stick with Howe as he has taken to Newcastle like a duck to water and I think he more to give."
@catjo1892 said: "Arteta has less managerial experience than Howe. Should Arsenal sack him if they qualify for the CL? Not to mention Potter at Chelsea!"
@jamessnowball7 tweeted: "Can anyone even name a manager we'd rather have? Cause I can't. Nobody."
@Slazedragon1 said: "Never gonna happen, why would you sack a manager for doing well, exceeding doing well? What cause he has been proven or won things? Howe will come good, just look at the wedge his created in the top six, how he’s transformed players like Almiron and Joelinton, man’s a genius!"
@lwaugh13154 tweeted: "Sack someone for over achieving... Nufc would be 2/3 years ahead of the plan. We encourage new talent in players but with managers everyone has a tier. It's strange."
@Sharkey_1993 said: "Eddie is the best manager we have had in years. Don't be so silly he's United everyone."
@CapitalG5000 said: "Tell me you know nothing about Newcastle United without telling me that you know nothing about Newcastle United."
