Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes will miss Saturday’s Premier League clash against West Ham United.
The Brazilian midfielder, who is one of the Magpies’ star players, has picked up a three-match suspension, having been shown a straight red card in the second half of their Carabao Cup second leg victory over Southampton for a foul on Saints forward Samuel Edozie.
Unlike suspension rules for yellow cards, which are competition-specific, red cards carry across all competitions, meaning Guimaraes will not miss the Carabao Cup final on February 26 but will miss Newcastle’s next three league games.

The first of those three matches is on Saturday, with Guimaraes now ruled out of the Magpies’ clash against West Ham.
Former Olympique Lyonnais midfielder and close friend of Hammers midfielder Lucas Paqueta, Guimaraes, will also miss meetings with Bournemouth (February 11) and Liverpool (February 18).
West Ham meanwhile are set to be without four players for the game through injury. Strikers Danny Ings and Gianluca Scamacca both have knee injuries, while winger Maxwel Cornet and centre-back Kurt Zouma are set to miss out with calf and knee injuries respectively.
