Newcastle United forward Callum Wilson was forced to sit out of England training on Monday morning after picking up a minor knock in Qatar. The striker was absent as a select group of the Three Lions' squad took part in a short session following Sunday's 3-0 win over Senegal.
Players who featured in the last-16 win were given the morning off, while those not involved were put through their paces by England boss Gareth Southgate and his coaching staff. Wilson 's absence is said to be a precautionary measure.
The Magpies forward has only been used twice by Southgate during the tournament so far, coming off the bench in group games with Iran and Wales. Wilson helped himself to an assist in the first clash, with calls for him to start over Harry Kane earlier in the tournament.

The former Bournemouth man was always expected to struggle for game time in the latter stages of the competition and may not be risked after his latest setback. Newcastle will be hoping their hitman departs Qatar with a clean bill of health before the return of Premier League football later this month.
Wilson has certainly done his reputation no harm in the Middle East in recent weeks, earning plenty of plaudits for his unselfish play in his two appearances so far. Talking on his Wrighty's House podcast last week, former Arsenal striker Ian Wright showered Wilson with praise after his cameo in England's 6-2 win in their group stage opener against Iran.
"I saw him the other day and told him I admire his unselfishness," he said. "He comes on in the World Cup, team is 5-1 up. You’re running through. You can score yourself but you square it and give it to Jack Grealish.
"Callum actually said to me ‘Give and you shall receive’. I hope and pray that his time is coming."
