Newcastle United have added Norwich City's Josh Appleyard to their backroom staff as Positional Analyst.
Appleyard will look at both emerging talent between 16 and 21 and possible first-team players. He is expected to work closely with Andy Howe who is currently the club's Head of Technical scouting.
Appleyard has previously held a similar position at Hull City where he spent five years. Appleyard's role will be to provide video analysis.

The United job advert for the role read that the successful applicant will be: "Working closely with the data team, Lead Video Analyst and Head of Technical Scouting to produce daily reports and evidenced-based clips on specific potential targets in line with the Recruitment Strategy."
United have moved to a position-specific model that Sporting Director Dan Ashworth implemented at Brighton. Appleyard joins Edward Black who came in from Arsenal as Lead Academy Scout, Paul Mclaren who arrived from Man City as Head of national youth scouting, Paul Midgley also from Man City who came in as head of youth recruitment and Delroy Ebanks who arrived from West Ham as Academy Lead Scout.
Speaking in recent days, Eddie Howe highlighted how key recruitment would be for the Magpies going forward. "Recruitment is such a difficult thing," he said.
"We will endeavor to do the best we can, to make the right decisions for Newcastle United, as is always the case. The work going into every signing is exhausting. It’s a long process, and that has to be the way because it’s so important.”
