Newcastle United have added Harrison Ashby to their ranks in a shrewd deadline day move for the 21-year-old.
The Magpies tried to lure Ashby to Tyneside last summer but West Ham complicated matters with a fresh round of contract talks. But now Eddie Howe has got his man and the youngster will add competition to United's squad in the second half of the season.
Ashby comes in for £3million after telling West Ham he was no longer interested in extending his stay at the London Stadium. His contract was due to expire in the summer and the Hammers risked losing him for a nominal compensation amount in six months time.

Ashby had his medical on Tyneside on Monday with the deal being completed and formally announced on deadline day. Speaking after his move was confirmed the player said: "I could not be happier. I can't get the smile off my face and it's a proud day for me and my family.
"I'm buzzing to come to the game tonight, to meet the fans and to get a taste of the atmosphere. I wouldn't be here today without West Ham, so I thank all the coaches that I had from growing up to now, but I'm delighted to be here."
