Newcastle United's pre-season schedule so far - From Gateshead to New Jersey

Newcastle United's summer fixture list is still not completed but the Magpies will soon be on their travels for a packed pre-season schedule.

The pre-season action kicks off closer to home but Newcastle will also embark on a whistle-stop tour of the East Coast of America before the Premier League gets under way. And there's a real favourite in store for the travelling Toon Army as the club head back to Glasgow next month.

Here's a guide to Newcastle's summer plans so far.

July 15, Gateshead (a)

Tickets for the International Stadium clash quickly sold out with a crowd of around 7,000 expected at Gateshead. Eddie Howe will take a full strength team south of the river with three sides of the ground backing Newcastle.

You'd expect Howe to field to different sides in each half although last summer he was keen to get up to 90 minutes in the legs of some players early doors.

July 18, Rangers (a)

There will be another 8,000 Newcastle fans heading to Ibrox for this one as the Magpies take on the Scottish Premiership side. Fond memories of trips to Ibrox include Ally McCoist's testimonial in 1993 which Newcastle win 2-1.

Newcastle were back in 1994 for the Ibrox tournament which featured Sampdoria, Rangers and Man United. And there were visits to Ibrox in 2010 and 2013.

Sunday 23 July @ Lincoln Financial Field, Philadelphia

Match 2: Fulham FC vs Brentford FC (4 p.m.)

Match 3: Newcastle United FC v Aston Villa FC (7p.m.)

Newcastle will be up second in Philly as they take on Villa in a dress rehearsal for the opening Premier League game of the season.

Wednesday 26 July @ Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Atlanta

Match 4: Brentford FC v Brighton & Hove Albion FC (5:30 p.m.)

Match 6: Newcastle United FC v Chelsea FC (8:15 p.m.)

Again Newcastle will be second on the bill as they face Chelsea at the illustrious Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Friday 28 July @ Red Bull Arena, New Jersey

Match 7: Brighton & Hove Albion FC v Newcastle United FC (7:30 p.m.)

The tour to the States ends in New Jersey at another impressive venue. With many Magpies based in New York, this could be an outstanding atmosphere. Brighton were walloped by Newcastle at the end of last season and might be eyeing revenge.

Newcastle's summer will be rounded off with a pair of home friendlies in early August with plans to be confirmed.
