While both Brazilian duo Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton have been in stellar form for Newcastle United this season, only the former has been nominated for the prestigious Samba Gold award.
Debuting in 2008, the Samba Gold, awarded by Sambafoot, is an award given to the best Brazilian player playing abroad.
Guimaraes makes the list as one of 12 Brazilian's playing in England, with Alisson, Antony, Casemiro, Ederson, Fabinho, Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Lucas Paqueta, Philippe Coutinho, Richarlison and Thiago Silva making up the rest of the Premier League contingent.

The remaining nominees listed are Bremer, Danilo, Eder Militao, Marquinhos, Neymar, Rodrygo, Raphinha and Vinicius Junior.
While Guimaraes' nomination comes as no surprise, the decision to omit Joelinton from the 20-man list is a rather baffling one, especially when considering Aston Villa's Philippe Coutinho has been named on the shortlist.
No one has embodied Newcastle's on the pitch transformation better than Joelinton, with the Brazilian going from a timid striker during his first two and half seasons on Tyneside to an all action midfielder in the space of a year.
The 26-year-old, who scored a bullet header upon the Magpies return to Premier League action against Leicester, has been one of the form midfielders in the division this calendar year, something which will surely earn him a call-up to the Brazilian national team sooner rather than later.
Should Newcastle supporters want to vote for Guimaraes however, they will be able to do so when voting opens on January 3 alongside the Sambafoot team, with all votes weighted the same.
