The result sees the Magpies stay in 17th on 22 points and Eddie Howe has appeared to turn their season around after a difficult start.
However, Newcastle now face another side that could be dragged into the relegation battle in Brentford after they stretched their winless run to seven games with a 2-1 loss at Arsenal.
