Newcastle United's backroom reshuffle continues with arrival of Blackburn Rovers man

Newcastle United are set to make another new addition to their backroom team after landing the services of Blackburn Rovers sports scientist Liam Mason.

Mason is leaving Rovers at the end of the season and will take up a position of Lead Sports Scientist at United after working at Ewood Park for the last eight years. Eddie Howe and his team won the February manager of the month award with the Toon chief keen to pay tribute to all of his backroom staff.

And Mason will now be part of that support network behind the scenes where he will work with head of performance Dan Hodges. Mason is expected to focus on player fitness. Newcastle parted company with Cristian Fernandez then Callum Walsh earlier this season.

Training Ground Guru say that Mason will work beneath Hodges at Benton as preparation for next season gets under way soon.
