Newcastle United rocked by early Joelinton blow as Brazilian stretchered off at Burnley

Newcastle United's player of the season was carried off at Turf Moor today with just eight minutes on the clock.

The Brazilian went down after an aerial challenge on the halfway line after an aerial challenge and it was quickly apparent that the £40million had a problem.

Joelinton urged the physios on to the field quickly after hitting the ground and within minutes a stretcher was called for.

Eddie Howe then summoned Jacob Murphy on to the field to replace the South American.

The former Hoffenheim man has transformed his fortunes on Tyneside after dropping back to midfield.

But this was an unfortunate blow for the star in Lancashire. Joelinton was serenaded by fans as he left the pitch in pain with his hands on his head leaving the Premier League venue on a stretcher.
