Newcastle United Chief Executive Officer Darren Eales will hold talks with the owners and Newcastle City Council on the potential of expanding the current stadium.
The Saudi-backed owners have no intention to move ground and follow the likes of Everton and Man City to a new venue. But with fans clambering for tickets on a match day - a far cry from when previous owner Mike Ashley had to give 10,000 season tickets away - Eales knows it is difficult for supporters to get in.
United's new CEO revealed yesterday that the club will consult with fans over the possibility of a commercial sponsor coming to St James' Park.

When asked about expansion, Eales told Chronicle Live: "It’s one of the areas we’re looking at. It’s a champagne problem because we’re sold out and it’s not a situation like the past where you’re almost giving away season tickets to fill the stadium.
"It’s an amazing location. I love the fact we’re here in the city with 108 pubs within half a mile. It’s the best ground to come to for away supporters in my view because of its location and atmosphere."
United's last capacity increase came in the year 2000 when Freddy Shepherd boosted the capacity to over 52,000. The former chairman wanted to develop the ground further before Sir John Hall sold his shares to Ashley and the matter was closed.
Despite the need for more seats, as Newcastle push on to become a global force, issues extending the East Stand and Gallowgate End due to the structure and listed buildings mean extension is not straight-forward.
Eales added: "The reality is, we are in a situation where we are limited in capacity. We’ll obviously be looking at if there are ways we can flex that and that’s one of the things we will be looking at over time."
