Chris Wood extended his barren spell to seven games by firing another blank in Nottingham Forest’s 2-0 defeat to Fulham. Since the start of last season, the New Zealand international has scored just eight goals in 63 appearances.
The Reds took a punt on Wood last month exactly one year on from his big-money move to Newcastle United. However, in all three appearances for Steve Cooper’s side, he has been hooked before the full-time whistle.
Jonjo Shelvey made his debut alongside Wood in the defeat at Craven Cottage, earning rave reviews from Forest fans. The former Toon midfielder completed a permanent move to the City Ground after seven years on Tyneside.

Elsewhere on loan watch, youngster Garang Kuol also endured another frustrating weekend at Hearts. A highly-rated forward, the Aussie international is yet to register a goal or assist since his loan switch and spent the entire game on the bench as the Jambos won away at Hamilton.
It was a similar story for Karl Darlow, who watched from the sidelines as Hull City drew 0-0 at Stoke. The result means Matt Ingram has kept back-to-back clean sheets following Darlow’s arrival as his quest for first-team football continues.
Thankfully for Jeff Hendrick, ex-Toon teammate Andy Carroll attracted most of the hostilities as Reading lost 1-0 to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light. Black Cats supporters made the Geordie their pantomime villain, leaving the player still on Newcastle’s books to walk away scot-free.
Injured trio Kelland Watts, Ciaran Clark and Isaac Hayden did not feature for their respective clubs.
