Newcastle United will face AFC Bournemouth in the fourth-round of the Carabao Cup following Thursday's live draw on Sky Sports. The Magpies made hard work progressing in the competition earlier this week, needing penalties to beat Crystal Palace at St James' Park.
The home clash attracted over 51,000 spectators on Wednesday, a club record in the competition, and the packed crowd were left biting their nails as Newcastle made it through the shootout after Nick Pope's heroics in between the sticks.
The fourth-round draw took place following Manchester United's clash with Aston Villa and sees Newcastle take on the Cherries next. The fourth round games are scheduled to be played on the week of December 19, 2022. That means they will be contested immediately after the World Cup and in the middle of the festive period.

The next round of the competition looks noticeably light in terms of Premier League talent with Arsenal, Chelsea, Tottenham, Everton and Brentford all suffering exits earlier this week.
Liverpool also needed penalties in their third-round clash as they staggered beyond Derby County, while Manchester City made light work of Graham Potter's Chelsea at the Etihad to book their place in the next stage.
This feels like a great chance for Newcastle to end their cup hoodoo and give Howe the silverware he craves on Tyneside. "I said very early days here that my dream is to try to win something for Newcastle and that hasn’t changed," the Newcastle boss told reporters this week.
"When you play any game you have to get the mindset right. You have to have everyone involved in the game with the mindset that we want to win and progress because we are ambitious. We can dream and we can dream big.
"That is what I have tried to encourage and, I have to say, the players have embraced that and they have mirrored my thoughts. There’s no dead games here. Every competition is huge."
