Newcastle United are one of the latest sides to show an interest in Nottingham Forest’s Brennan Johnson ahead of the final days of the January transfer window.
The 20-year-old has caught the eye with his performances for Forest so far this season, leading to a number of Premier League clubs showing their interest.
Johnson has scored six goals so far this season as Steve Coopers ’ men look to continue to climb the Championship table.
Brentford are one of the teams, in particular, to be heavily linked with the Forest man. It is said that the Bees have seen bids knocked back by the Reds.
It is now claimed by the Independent that Thomas Frank’s side have ‘upped their offer’ for the player in an attempt to complete a deal.
The report adds that, while they are reluctant to sell the player in this window, Forest would accept a bid of around £20 million.
It is said that Brentford’s latest attempt still falls short of that figure.
But, it’s not only the Bees that could attempt to prise Johnson away from the City Ground in the next few days.
Newly-rich Newcastle United are also said to be interested with Eddie Howe a ‘huge fan of the player’ and the club ‘expected to bid’ for Johnson before the deadline.
Newcastle are expected to be active in the final days of the transfer window as they look to fight against relegation from the Premier League.
