Newcastle United jetting to Dubai for mid-season training camp this month

Newcastle United are heading to the United Arab Emirates for a mid-season training camp later this month.

The Magpies will repeat a similar trip to the Middle East like last March when the club used the warm weather camp to prepare for the final clutch of Premier League games which led to a strong finish. The trip has been confirmed by the Dubai Sports Council and has been described as a behind closed doors trip.

As things stand there are no friendly matches scheduled on the trip unlike the December journey to Saudi Arabia. Last spring's trip to Dubai also saw Newcastle face Steven Taylor's Gulf United which proved to be an easy win in a practice match.

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe said last season: “It’s a way for the lads to not just work, but talk in a different environments and it does stimulate new friendships.

“I’m a firm believer in these periods you have away, new friendships can form and it can bring the group closer. So I think there’s natural benefits which really help the team."

The trip will take place after the away game at Nottingham Forest during the international break.
