According to Manchester World, the Red Devils have opted not to extend Galbraith's contract despite having the option to offer a further 12-month deal.
Reports suggest Newcastle would immediately loan out Galbraith, similar to his current situation at United. He has spent this season with League Two side Salford City.
A number of other clubs including Derby County, Stoke City and Sunderland are reportedly interested in the international midfielder, and who could offer Galbraith first-team football.
Galbraith was tipped for big things when he joined Manchester United from Linfield in the summer of 2017. He has made just one senior appearance for the Red Devils, back in 2019 as a late substitute in a Europa League game against Astana.
During his time at Old Trafford Galbraith has had two loan spells. Last season he was with League One sode Doncaster Rovers.
This season he has scored four goals in 32 appearances for Salford, while Galbraith has also been capped twice at senior international level with Northern Ireland.
He made his debut during Michael O'Neill's first reign, in a friendly win over Luxembourg back in 2019.
