Humble Howe on Keegan/Robson
Eddie Howe has now eclipsed two of the biggest managerial names in Newcastle's history by reaching a major final. Neither Kevin Keegan or Sir Bobby Robson were able to manage such a feat but Howe is now a potential 90 minutes away from lifting a trophy at Wembley against either Manchester United or Nottingham Forest.
Some of the biggest names in football such as Ruud Gullit, Rafa Benitez and Kenny Dalglish also tried and failed to win something on Tyneside. But Howe can better all of them next month. When asked about delivering that much needed first piece of silverware, he said: "I tend not to think too much about previous teams and managers.

"I respect everyone that's been here and the journey the club has been on, but live the day-to-day work so much, it's so intense. If you could live my day today, it's transfer window, the match today, you don't get time to take a breath, to even think of the past.
"We really want to embrace our past and be very proud of what's happened here before, but we also want to create new history for ourselves, so that's what we're determined to do."

Southampton praise
Southampton boss Nathan Jones believes the Magpies have a real 'opportunity' to win the Carabao Cup because they are a 'very difficult side' to play against.
"Whoever Newcastle play in the final, they have got an opportunity," Jones told reporters. "They are a good side.
"They are third in the Premier League at just over the halfway stage so they must be doing something right. In terms of the recruitment they have done, in terms of the time that Eddie has had here, he's done a wonderful job and they are a very difficult side: big, strong, athletic."

Burn's hilarious Gazza tribute
Dan Burn hilariously interrupted Sean Longstaff's post-match interview to announce that he is "going to get my suit measured" as he paid tribute to Paul Gascoigne's iconic line.
He said: "I'm happy, I'm happy. I'm going to get my suit measured - come on the lads!" The words were a famous tribute to Gascoigne, a Burn echoed the same phrase as Gazza after Tottenham beat Arsenal 3-1 in the 1991 FA Cup semi-final.
Burn's outburst left Longstaff in stitches, who said: "That's unbelievable, what a guy man, what a guy."

Bruno all good for Wembley
Bruno Guimaraes will not miss the Carabao Cup Final despite being sent off in the late stages of their semi-final second leg against Southampton. The Brazilian was shown a straight red card after his challenge on Sam Edozie was deemed by VAR to be a red card offence following referee Paul Tierney's original decision to show him a yellow.
However, Guimaraes' red card does not mean that he'll miss the Magpies' first Wembley appearance since 1999 because of the competition's rules.
The Carabao Cup rules state that all suspensions carry over through all other domestic competitions, meaning Guimaraes will miss Newcastle's three matches in between now and the final scheduled for Sunday, February 26.

Shelvey's emotional farewell
Jonjo Shelvey spoke "from the heart" when the long-serving midfielder addressed his former Newcastle team-mates for the last time.
Shelvey had the opportunity to salute the fans on the pitch with his kids at half-time before making his way down to the dressing room after the 2-1 win against Southampton to say a few words. It was a speech Fabian Schar certainly won't forget.
"It was emotional, actually," the defender told ChronicleLive. "What he was saying was coming from his heart. I've played with him for four-and-a-half years and he's an unbelievable player but, also, a great character. The whole team is going to miss him. This dressing room is going to miss him.
"The same as Woodsy Chris Wood) and all the players that have left. Jonjo has been here for seven years and done unbelievable so I wish him nothing but the best, but I'm sad that he is leaving."
